POLIO VACCINATION CAMPAIGN
Rusape Town Council would like to advise residents and our valued
stakeholders that there will be a polio vaccination campaign with effect from
the 4th of February to the 7th of February 2025. All residents are encouraged
to co-operate with the health authorities so that a herd immunity is realised.
Let us encourage and remind each other that our children are our future. Tell
a friend to tell a friend. Children to participate in this exercise are up to 10
years of age.

OBSERVATION OF ROAD RULES
Rusape Town Council would like to advise the public transporters and motorists to observe road rules and take notice of the budgeted penalties, tariffs and entry fees for the year 2025 varying with class of vehicle. All operators are reminded that its an offence to park, pick and drop passengers on the highway.
Cross-boarder buses are required pay their monthly fees before operating. Save for purpose design domestic goods delivery vehicles and removal trucks , all haulage trucks and heavy vehicles are prohibited from parking or entering off route streets in the CBD and residential areas. Littering from vehicles shall attract fines for both the transporter and or the offending passenger. All transporters domiciled in Rusape should obtain a Council supporting letter when applying for or renewing their route permits from the Ministry of Transport. Transporters violating the Traffic By-laws shall be penalized.
Operating crews are kindly requested to co-operate with Council Revenue and Traffic Control Enforcement Officers or staff for the convenience of our commuting and general public. May we all be advised that failure to comply may result in penalties and or legal action against offenders and their respective companies.
Full copies or abstracts of the budget in terms of Section 218,219 and 288 of the Urban Councils Act( Chapter 29:15) Tariffs and Charges can be obtained at the Rusape Town Council office at a fee. Please be advised accordingly.
STORMWATER BLOCKAGE
Rusape Town Council is receiving reports that some residents are blocking stormwater from flowing through their properties. Please note that this practice is unneighbourly and creates serious risks, especially in neighborhoods with earth roads and limited drainage infrastructure. Blocking stormwater flow can lead to pooling, erosion, and flooding, causing potential damage to neighboring properties.
To protect everyone’s property, residents are instructed to:
•Allow stormwater to flow naturally through your property as designed to prevent flooding.
•Avoid placing barriers or other obstructions that could disrupt the natural drainage path.
Our team will be conducting inspections, and corrective actions may be taken if necessary.
Thank you for helping us keep our community safe from preventable water damage.
OPERATION OF ILLEGAL TUCK SHOPS, MOBILE CASH CABINS,LP GAS CUBICLES AND CONTAINERS
Notice is hereby given to all individual operating tuck shops, mobile cash
cabins, welding, carpentry, LP gas cubicles, hair salons and business operating from containers and makeshift steel or wooden structures in and around shopping centres without proper authorisation, permits or valid lease agreements with Rusape Town Council.
As much as you are hereby directed to cease all business operations
immediately, and vacate the premises no later than 30 January 2025. Failure to comply with this notice will result in the seizure of any goods or equipment used in conducting unauthorised business activities. Rusape Town Council encourages you to address this matter promptly to avoid financial and/ or legal consequences. You can visit the Town Planning and Land Management Office for any clarification on the above matter.

FURTHER DISRUPTION OF REFUSE REMOVAL SERVICES
Rusape Town Council would like to advise its valued residents and
stakeholders to be a little bit patient on refuse collection. The refuse
compactor is still undergoing mechanical maintenance and it is our hope that
refuse collection will resume once the mechanics department is done with it.
Residents are encouraged to keep refuse within the designated points. Any
inconveniences caused are sincerely regretted.
REMOVAL OF ILLEGAL TAKE AWAYS AND FOOD OUTLETS
In the interest of public health, Rusape Town Council hereby notifies all
residents and stakeholders that, as of January 6th, 2025 onwards, all illegal takeaways and food outlets will be removed. This decision is in line with the Public Health Act,Food and Food Standards Act, as well as the council’s by-laws, which strictly prohibit open-air catering within the council’s jurisdiction.
The council will take strict measures against anyone found operating an illegal takeaway or food outlet, including confistication and penalties. This is to ensure that all food vendors operate in a safe and hygienic environment, protecting the health and well-being of the community.
All food vendors are advised to stop with emeidate effect, and find suitable
place to carry out their business obtain the necessary permits and licenses to operate legally. The council will provide support and guidance to those who wish to regularize their operations.
Non-compliance will result in:
– Removal of illegal takeaway or food outlet
– Penalties and fines
MUNICIPALITY STATUS NOTIFICATION
Rusape Town Council would like to distance itself from an article circulating in various social media platforms on municipality status. The origins of the article are unknown and its intentions are detrimental to the communication protocols of the Council.
Meanwhile as we can not deny the municipality status mission ,its something we are working flat out to accomplish. Members of the general public and relevant stakeholders will be notified once due processes have been fulfilled, and through the normal channels which are the government gazette, Manica Post, Sunday Mail or Herald.
NEW APPLICATIONS AND RENEWAL OF 2025 BUSINESS LICENCES
In accordance with the provisions of the licences act(Chapter 14:17) all
businesses should have renewed their licences on or before 31 December
2024. Rusape Town Council would like to remind all business operators to
acquire operating licences,settle their 2024 business licence fees and renew their 2025 business licences.
To renew your 2025 business licence ,please visit the Accounts Office Room 2 at main offices, with the following:
1.2024 business licence.
2.Relevant licence feesas per 2025 budget.
3.Valid Zimra tax clearance certificate.
Please note that no licence shall be issued or renewed for properties or
accounts with outstanding 2024 arrears. Therefore you are advised to clear
these debts to avoid inconveniences.
